At an event in Los Angeles, Microsoft announced its first tablet called "The Surface". The screen is a 10.6″ unit and is covered by Gorilla Glass 2.0. The innovative thing is that the new tablet comes with an inbuilt kickstand. Actually Microsoft revealed two kinds of tablets, one which will compete with the common tablet line and one that will compete with the ultrabooks line.
The tablet measures in at just 9.3 mm and is equipped with a Full USB 2 port and a Micro SD card slot. The tablet is encased in a magnesium case with a PVD finish while liquid metal ensures that the weight remains fairly light at 1.5 lbs. 32 and 64 GB models will be available. Pricing and availability was not yet made known.
