Taiwan has became one of the first countries in the world to offer free Wi-Fi Internet on a mass scale to its citizens, and now it is extending that to any foreign tourist, also for free. The Taiwan government-backed free “iTaiwan” wireless network was launched in 2011 and now has more than 4,400 hotspots. It gives free Wi-Fi Internet to 2.6 million people.
Now, foreigners can also use iTaiwan. Visitors who had trouble buying Foreigners can open an iTaiwan account at a Taiwan Tourism Bureau counter/center, show their passport as ID and they can login using their account, on their digital devices & will be able to use 1 MBPS semi-fast free Wi-Fi Internet service.
